Over Memorial Day weekend we headed west for our second annual mountain adventure - this year the count was 8 adults and 10 kids. It sounds crazy, and it was, but I was also surprised at how relaxed it felt. We had a great time enjoying the cold mountain streams and lakes, spending time at the beautiful house and playing games and laughing after the kids went to bed.
This is the beautiful view from the second story porch...
On our first day, we went to this really neat park in downtown Cashiers. We took a group shot of the kids at the park last year and attempted to do the same, here is what happened...
The babies were taken out of the picture pretty quickly for obvious reasons. Charlotte refused to sit down, June was very upset about getting her picture taken but Lily Kate was as ready as ever to be in front of the camera. After the park, we went out to lunch at a beautiful restaurant that was basically one big porch. We had a wonderful waitress, who was a mom of three, so she totally understood the chaos.
The second day we went to sliding rock and June headed straight for the water. The fact that the water was freezing did not even seem to phase her.
On the other hand, Caroline spent some time on the sand before deciding to brave the icy waters.
Our third day we rented a pontoon boat and spent several hours on the lake that you saw in the first picture. We explored the lake, spent some time on a little island in the lake and had fun swinging from the rope swing (I attempted it, but it wasn't pretty). Here is Caroline, making sure June doesn't fall off the boat...

The two new additions from last year and their beautiful mamas...
And last, but not least, another attempt at a group shot of the kids. We bribed them with cookies to get them to sit still. The babies still didn't make it in, but this was the best we could get!
Thank you Ryan and Grace for inviting us to the mountains again for a wonderful, memorable trip! Looking forward to next year already!!
